Monica Mejia | Associate Director

Monica Mejia is the Associate Director at Friends for Youth, where she serves as a strategic partner to the Executive Director and provides leadership across operations, finance, development, people and culture, and organizational strategy.

A first-generation Salvadoran American raised in North Fair Oaks, Monica brings more than 15 years of nonprofit experience spanning youth development, direct service, organizational operations, fundraising, and leadership. Her connection to the communities Friends for Youth serves deeply informs her approach to the work.

Monica is passionate about building strong, equitable, and people-centered organizations that create lasting opportunities for young people and families. She believes mentorship can be transformative, providing young people with relationships that help them recognize their strengths, expand what they believe is possible, and know that someone is invested in their success.

In addition to her work at Friends for Youth, Monica is actively engaged in civic and community leadership in San Mateo County.
