Monica Mejia

Director of Operations

Monica is a dynamic leader with a passion for community impact, operational excellence, and, yes—spreadsheets. Born in the beautiful country of El Salvador, Monica immigrated to the North Fair Oaks area in the 6th grade, where she found support through Redwood City Schools and local nonprofits. These experiences ignited her dedication to service and shaped the foundation of her career.

With 14 years of experience in education—11 of those in the nonprofit sector—Monica has seen firsthand the transformative power of mentorship, advocacy, and strategic community support. As a seasoned professional overseeing Operations, HR, Programs, and Finance, she thrives on building sustainable systems, optimizing workflows, and making data-driven decisions (because nothing says efficiency like a well-formatted spreadsheet).

Her work is fueled by a deep commitment to empowering youth and strengthening community networks. Just as Friends for Youth is dedicated to mentorship and growth, Monica is devoted to ensuring that every operational detail supports the mission. Whether it’s fine-tuning budgets, developing impactful programs, or fostering organizational culture, she brings the same energy and dedication to every aspect of her work.

Let’s talk strategy, collaboration, and, of course, the magic of a well-balanced budget sheet.
