Prior to joining Friends for Youth, Nhi held executive leadership roles at several nonprofits in the East Bay, focusing on education and family support. She was instrumental in shaping organizational strategy, leading teams, and building effective partnerships across sectors. Her accomplishments include co-founding a model public charter school and helping to re-authorize the Oakland Fund for Children and Youth, which supports over 20,000 local children each year.

Nhi brings a wealth of experience in program leadership, multi-stakeholder partnerships, policy advocacy, strategic planning, and program development. Nhi holds a B.A. in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley and an M.Ed. from Harvard Graduate School of Education. Beyond her professional skills, she is known for her collaborative style and her dedication to creating supportive environments where young people can thrive. She has also served on several nonprofit boards.

“I came to the United States when I was ten and didn’t speak English. I struggled learning a new language, adjusting to a new culture, and navigating a new school system. My loving parents did all they could to support me but were limited due to language and cultural barriers. But  my mentor advocated for me and helped me find my voice. They changed my life,” said Nhi. “I’m honored to join Friends for Youth and to work alongside our staff, board, and partners to deepen our work to empower young people to realize potential to achieve greatness.”
