Job Description:

Friends for Youth is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Full-Time Program Coordinator to work closely with and report to the Programs Director.  As a Program Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Group mentoring program and our 1-to-1 mentoring program. Your responsibilities will include facilitating our SEL curriculum in our group programs in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, supporting matching youth with volunteer mentors, providing ongoing case management, and coordinating community outreach workshops and activities for program matches. In addition, you will dedicate a portion of your workweek to office/virtual activities, such as recruitment, mentor matching, program development, and various assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 1-to-1 Program:

    • Case manages family and mentor matches.

    • Assist in conducting youth/family intake interviews, matching meetings, and pre- and post-match evaluations

    • Organize and coordinate community outreach initiatives, workshops, and activities for program participants.

    • Lead volunteer recruitment, including hosting info sessions,  mentor interviews, screening appointments, mentor matching, program development, and various assigned projects.

    • Plan and host mentor mixers and community events

  • Recruitment:

    • Assist in maintaining updated youth, mentor, and match forms and information through DocuSign, Salesforce, and Google Suite incl, but not limited to Forms, Sheets, and others.

    • Training/Recruitment/Community Outreach

    • Facilitate volunteer info sessions, interviews, screenings, home checks and trainings

    • Collaborate with recruitment team to participate in volunteer recruitment methods and make occasional outreach presentations to community groups, universities, and corporations

  • Group Program:

    • Facilitate and lead group mentorship sessions by following our social emotional learning (SEL) curriculum.

    • Maintain positive relationships with school administration, partner sites and send regular ( monthly) written updates with curriculum topics covered and attendance.

    • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with volunteer mentors

    • Assist with other projects as assigned, such as planning field trips and activities

  • Data:

    • Maintain organized records and documentation of mentees and mentors on FFY server, Salesforce and paper when needed.

    • Conduct data entry into data systems and analyze data to inform program improvements.

    • Day-to-day data tracking, pre and post survey, daily attendance and other data reporting tasks. 


Qualifications:

This is an entry level role with opportunity to grow.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience.

  • Strong judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Youth Development practices/ classroom management 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Outstanding organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Ability to effectively engage with a diverse group of adults and youth.

  • Comfortable with public speaking engagements.

  • Innovative thinker and self-starter.

  • Passion for public service and youth development.

  • Knowledge of local community resources.

  • Proficiency in Spanish required.

  • Valid Driver's License with reliable transportation required

  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus, but not required.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Proficiency using Salesforce

  • Project management experience

  • After-School instructor experience/ Youth Development 

Working Conditions: 

  • This is a hybrid position, requiring a minimum three days of on-site work in Palo Alto California per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). 

  • Some sessions may be on Mondays and Fridays and will be required in addition from the coordinator if the group mentoring schedule necessitates it. 

  • Occasional work on evenings and weekends for mentorship and fundraising activities may be necessary.
